Discord Integration
Connect your Discord servers to OpsBrief and track important updates across your developer community with AI-powered daily digests.
Perfect for:
Prerequisites
- A Discord server where you have "Manage Server" permission
- An OpsBrief account (sign up free)
- Access to the channels you want to monitor
Step-by-Step Setup
Navigate to Integrations
After creating your account, go to your dashboard and navigate to Settings → Integrations. Click "Connect" next to Discord.
Authorize the Bot
You'll be redirected to Discord's OAuth page. Select the server you want to connect and authorize the OpsBrief bot. The bot requires the following permissions:
- Read Messages - View messages in channels
- View Channels - See available channels
- Read Message History - Access past messages
Security note: The bot only has read permissions. It cannot send messages, delete content, or modify your server. See our security docs.
Select Channels
After authorization, navigate to Channels in your OpsBrief dashboard. You'll see all text channels from your Discord server. Select which channels to monitor.
For each channel, configure which event types to detect. Developer communities often track:
#announcements
- ✓ Releases
- ✓ Announcements
- ✓ Events
#dev-updates
- ✓ Feature launches
- ✓ Bug fixes
- ✓ Technical updates
Configure Event Types
Customize which events OpsBrief should extract from each channel. Our AI is trained to understand developer community language and can detect releases, incidents, and announcements automatically.
Set Up Your Digest
Configure your digest preferences to receive daily summaries. Each team member can customize their own digest settings.
Features
Text Channel Support
Monitor any text channel in your server for important updates and announcements.
Thread Messages
Track conversations in threads and include them in your daily digest.
Multi-Server Support
Connect multiple Discord servers to a single OpsBrief organization.
Role-Based Access
Only monitor channels that the bot has been given access to.
Troubleshooting
Bot can't see certain channels
Make sure the OpsBrief bot role has permission to view the channel. Check Server Settings → Roles → OpsBrief, and ensure 'View Channels' is enabled for the channels you want to monitor.
Missing server in dropdown
You need 'Manage Server' permission to add bots. If you don't see your server, ask the server owner or an admin to add the integration.
Messages not syncing
Discord messages sync every few minutes. If the integration was just added, wait a few minutes. For persistent issues, try removing and re-adding the bot.
Can't monitor private channels
Private channels require the bot to be explicitly added. Go to the private channel's settings and add the OpsBrief bot to grant access.
