Custom Keywords & Patterns
Help OpsBrief's AI better understand your team's specific terminology for more accurate event detection.
Why Use Custom Keywords?
Every team has unique terminology. Custom keywords help OpsBrief:
- Recognize your terminology: "LGTM", "ship it", project codenames
- Reduce false negatives: Catch events that use non-standard phrasing
- Improve accuracy: Better match between your channels and detected events

Adding Custom Keywords
Go to Settings → Events
In your dashboard, navigate to Settings → Events.
Select an event type
Choose which event type you want to add keywords for (e.g., "Releases").
Add keywords
Enter keywords separated by commas. Keywords are case-insensitive.
Test and iterate
Review your next few digests. Add more keywords if you're missing events, remove them if you're getting false positives.
Best Practices
Start with high-confidence keywords
Add keywords that almost always indicate an event. 'deployed to prod' is better than just 'deploy'.
Include variations
Add different ways people say the same thing: 'shipped', 'released', 'deployed', 'pushed to prod'.
Use project codenames
If your team uses codenames, add them. 'Project Titan launched' should be detected as a release.
Review and prune
After a month, review which keywords are triggering. Remove ones causing false positives.
